COLOUR BUTTER featuring JON BURGERMAN ( UK)

In conjunction with the Singapore Design Festival 2007, Butter Factory is proud to present live-in person mural art by Jon Burgerman. Held on Friday, 7 th December 2007, the public is also invited to submit their photos which may be included in his wacky coluor-in muraloodle. Upon completion of mural, it will be a special colouring-in space for all to come and visit and colour in. We will document it all online and show off the images people sent in along side the doodles.

Known for his quirky human characters, the king of doodling is set to colour Singapore. Jon Burgerman expresses himself through drawing, painting, print, animation, street-art and toy design. His recent project in Derby saw him creating a large scale mural on the hoardings of a construction site of a new building. His doodles were then painted by passers by, giving them a hands-on experience. Often his works are found on paper, cardboard, canvas or walls and objects. There’s no telling where he can’t work on. His characters burst into life with dazzling colours inspired from anxiety, self-deprecation and humour.

His art has been widely exhibited across the globe in cities like New York, London, Hong Kong, Paris, Melbourne and Derby. They’ve been featured in numerous magazines, The Guardian, Creative Review, Design Week, X-Funs, DPI Magazine, IdN, ROJO, Graphic, ModArt, Pictoplasma, Dot Dot Dash, Full Vinyl, 300% Cotton, Computer Arts, The Fundamentals of Illustration and This Is A Magazine. Jon Burgerman conducts student tutorials and lectures at British Universities and he’s also presented his work at the prestigious Pictoplasma Character Design Conference in Berlin (2006) where he conducted a ‘doodling’ workshop for the audience.

His wacky characters have adorned bags, books, belts, snowboards, skateboards, cushion, mugs and lots more.

His list of achievement is very impressive with his recent being the D&AD Silver award nomination for his work for Levi’s and has worked on big projects for many high profile organisations. Some of these include: The Science Museum (UK), The BBC (UK), SONY (Worldwide), KidRobot (Worldwide), The Sydney Morning Herald Newspaper (Australia), MTV (Worldwide), Pepsi (USA), Coca-Cola (Worldwide), 55DSL (UK), Gortex (Europe), Crown Creative Inc. (Japan), NookArt (Australia), Snickers (UK), Miss Sixty (Italy), Rip Curl (Worldwide) and Symbian (Worldwide). He also designed a special sick bag for Virgin Atlantic flights.
